I currently have a conventional Electric heat with central AC system and with this was a Trane Weathertron Baystat 240 thermostat. First of all, I think there was a heat pump outside for this unit at one time, b/c there were a lot of heat pump related wires connected in the baystat 240. Anyway, I've got the Honeywell working ok...the heating works fine...activates my heat strips and gets nice and warm. When I go to AC, nothing...compressor doesn't kick on. I think I just have 1 wire in the wrong spot. Here's the wiring...

From Wall > Old Baystat > Honeywell
Red > R > R (jumpered w/RC)
Brown > T > DISCARDED
Orange > O > DISCARDED
Green > G > G
Yellow > Y > Y
Black > X2 > E
Blue > B > C
White > W > W

Any help would be great!!!
-Dave

This wiring looks correct if you don't have a heatpump outside.

If you do have a heat pump connect orange to O and set option 170 to 9 and option 190 to 0.

What did you set option 170 to?

I set 170 to option 1. The main issue is when I turn the AC on, the compressor outside doesn't engage.

R = 24volt power
Y = compressor
G = fan
O = reversing valve to cool (heatpumps)
Aux = electric heat
E = emergency heat

Does the compressor run if you jumper R, Y, & G?

I've been having the same problem. I do have a heat pump outside. I've connected everything properly, but my outside unit does not cut on when i'm trying to heat. Help is needed.
