Hello,
I have a thermostat that was removed and I cannot identify all of the wires to wire up a new Hunter 44860 Thermostat.
I have an all Weathrer King all electric heat pump, and the only wires that are connected to the heat pump are Red, Blue, Black, Brown (that was marked "X"), and Yellow.
I do not know how to hook it up to the new thermostat. There is no "X" on the thermostat, and from reading on here, either the black is ground, or the brown is ground for a weather king, but then I don't know what the black does. I am confused, please help!

Post the Q674? ???? number on your old thermostat along with the terminal = color wire of the old stat.

Thank you for the quick reply.
The original thermostat was a Ruud Pt. no 41-20804-16 3AAT86B9A1 are the only numbers on it. The model number on the heat pump outside is 10PJB30A01. Unfortunately it is unhooked, so I don't know where the wires go except for the brown wire which was marked X with a sticker.
I traced the wires, which went to the outside heat pump. I removed the access panel and it was hooked up to it as follows.
The Yellow Wire was hooked up to the Y out. The Blue Wire was hooked up to the B out. The Red Wire was hooked up to the R out (it had a rubber boot on it) The Brown Wire was hooked up to the C out. The Black wire was spliced to a purple wire, which was hooked up to the D out. All of the other wires hooked up to the same color.
I also don't know how to post pictures on here or I would post the schematic. Is there a spot on this site that shows me how to do that? Then I can post pictures.
Thanks,
Dan

Be sure to configure your new stat for HEAT PUMP operation.

I have hooked it up exactly as you stated except 1) I have no green wire 2) The Rc/R terminal is only one terminal.
I turned the power back on and neither the heat or cool now run. I have already changed the status of the thermostat to heat pump.
Any suggestions?

Your G terminal = fan. Without a wire there nothing will work.
The G terminal only connects to the fancoil, it will not go outside. If you only turn off power to the outdoor unit you will risk poping a low voltage fuse or losing your transformer.
Your system subs black for white and uses blue for the reversing valve (the latter is a standard color for Rheem)

the Green wire hasn't ever been hooked up. The system worked fine yesterday (except for the secondary heat, the HVAC repairman told me to replace the thermostat, which leads me to now)
I may have popped a low voltage fuse. If I have hooked up everything else correctly that should be the only answer, right?

I have looked at this system, and the bottom wires in the pictures above loop around, and go directly above to the thermostat.
In fact, I don't see where the wires are spliced to go to the air exchanger at all.

Open your panel. I doubt that it is wireless.

You would be correct. You rock!
Thank you. My fan now works, and the A/C works. (the inside temp right now is 76, so it kicked on the A/C. I will be testing the heater once the house cools off a bit.
Thank you so very much. hvacmechanic.com has saved me a call to for a technician, and your prompt responses saved me an evening of very cold weather (it is supposed to get into the 40s tonight).
Thank you thank you thank you :)
