I have a Carrier 58P series and recently had a new main board installed. This fixed my problem with the gas not igniiting but I still have a pop pop or what sounds like maybe a really lound relay switch. Any ideas. BTY, the main fan motor was replaced last year so I don't think its a bearing issue and I don't have the sound when the AC runs and shuts down.

Ductwork can do that but I'd think it would be doing it when you use the cooling also. Once in awhile I run across a furnace that makes a loud popping (usually also while it's running) and the noise is coming from the heat exchanger itself. Maybe you should have your heat exchanger checked for cracks.

The unit is a 58PAV and it was installed new in 2000 or 2001 right before I bought the home.
