My heat pump didnt work properly so I called my home warranty. An HVAC guy came out and looked it over...found a leak in the outside unit's valve and the evaporator coil had a leak and was broke. Well since my system is from 1993, he said that in order to fix it, I'll need modifications to my duct work and that. That was 4 days ago. I called yesterday and they said he is still trying to find a part price or something and then it would be submitted to the warranty company for review. Is this feasible? I dont get how it could be that hard to update a system for an experienced HVAC like he SEEMED to be. Dont they do this daily?

Considering that I called at noon and the guy was able to come at 2pm the same day I dont think he was that busy! This was who I had to call through my warranty though.

He said that my system will need updated or modified because my unit isnt made anymore. I guess maybe it takes time...Ill call tomorrow. At least my auxillary heat works if I need it.

How many other customers do you think this guy has? That he might be chasing parts for or dealing with their problems also?
Sometimes it does take awhile to get info, prices and the parts themselves from the suppliers / manufacturers, especially if it's an obsolete part.

Plus home warranty jobs usually don't pay worth a crap...sometimes the warranty company strings you along on getting approval, other times they really drag their feet about paying you. Your job may have taken back burner priority due to this. Waving some cash at the furnace guy might help.
