I have an amana Air Command SSE 80IIQ Two Stage Gas Furnace and an Amana 4 ton condensor. When the unit was installed, the old thermostat was used. It is not a two stage thermostat, so I am not getting the benefit of the two stage heat. I was going to buy the Honeywell TH8320 VisionPRO this weekend, but was hoping someone could tell me how to wire it up to the furnace and air. The old thermostat only has four wires. I can easily run more wires, but do not know how many I will need.

HELP!!

1 is good, 2 is better. Use 18/8 wire if available. Always good to have some unused spare wire conductors in the event you would need then. Ex: Shorted wiring, adding sensors, etc.

I'll run two more wires. Can you tell me how to wire them as the original thermostat is only a one stage and the new one will be two stage? Do I hook up the existing wires the same, and if so, what does the new wire hook up to (at both ends).

Thanks

Typical Wiring( Furnace & Thermostat)
Red = Rh & Rc (Jumpered at T-Stat) This is 24v Power.
Green = G (Fan Circuit)
White = W1 (1st stage heating)
Orange = W2 (2nd stage heating)
Yellow = Y1 (1st stage cooling)
Blue = Y2 (2nd stage cooling is equiped)
Black = C (common)

Hope this helps.
