I have a Trane XL 80 two stage heater. I noticed that cold air was blowing out when the heat was on. I checked the unit & noticed the indicator on the bottom was cycling 2 blinking red lights. I open the cover & pushed the white button to see if I notice anything. The ignitor would start up & flame on for a few seconds, then stop, flame on again, then stop. After a few times, the blower would come on & the indicator would again blink twice. I re-restarted it & this time the heat was working. When I replaced the covers, it went back to not working with the 2 blinking lights coming back. The 2 blinking lights is refered to "System lock out (no flames), check polarity. I'm not sure what it is that I have to check. I think maybe the heat sensor (fusible link) might be bad. Is there anything I can check before I purchase any parts or what part exactly do I have to replace?

This is due to a faulty module white in color at the top left inside. it has a red light that blinks a code that you read on the face of the module to tell you what's wrong. the moral of the story is my furance is almost 10 years old and im on my 3rd one.

clean your flame sensor with steel wool before you start throwing parts at it....a ceramic object located at your last burner...take care not to crack the ceramic.

Thanks, I'll definitely try that when I get home. Now this device is located where the burners are? I've noticed a small device screwed in, right next to the burners, on the left side. It has a small white base with small metal wires coming from the left & right side of it, connecting at the middle, with the middle being slightly thicker then the rest of it. Looking at the diagram, this piece is called the "fusible link". On the device, it says microtemp flowed by what I'm guessing is the model numbers. Is this it or is it something else next to the burner?

it should be on the left side, under the burners...single screw, single wire.
