I hope someone can answer this,

We just had a new Goodman furnace installed with an electric heat pump. I am pleased with the system but HATE our digital thermostat because it won’t let me tell the furnace to run the heat pump AND auxiliary heat at the same time if I choose. I want to have that option if I choose. I know it will cost more, but the heat is warmer. I wouldn’t run it all the time, but I would like to be able to turn it on manually if I choose. My technician says they don't make thermostats that allow you to do that. Is that true? Right now I have to turn my thermostat up 2 degrees to kick on the auxiliary heat with the heat pump. I don't want to have to do that. I want to tell the thermostat to run BOTH at the same time without turning it up 2 degrees. Does anyone know if this can be done or if there is a thermostat I can buy that will let me do this? This is my first electric heat pump furnace so I may be out of luck, but want to know if I can have this option. Somebody help!

Thanks for any replies.

I'm don't work on alot of goodmans but, it's time for a new tech.

I set up heat pumps to run with aux heat or heat strips in steps.
Such as if I have a 20kw strip I will set an outside t-stat to make the heat strips come on in stages with the heat pump as it gets colder outside. If outside temp gets to 30 deg the strips will come on at 50% or 10 kw.

It can be done just get another tech.
