I am trying to replace my old dial thermostat which broke with a Honeywell RTH230B digital thermostat for my gas Rheem heater which is about 10 years old. I only have 2 wires, red and white, when I hooked them up accordingly, I could not get the thermostat to go past 62 degrees. I tried the program mode as well as manual mode. I also tried HG for gas and even HG. Please help, maybe I am missing something. Do I need an isolation relay? I wouldn't think so, the heater's only about 9 years old, but the manual mentions using one if you have a compatibility problem. Please help~!!!!
Thanks!

Verify that you have connected to RH and W. Recheck your battery polarity. Set your jumper to HG.
If it continues to give you trouble, verify that your red wire is connected to R and white to W at your furnace.
"Tip of the Day" Remember to remove power first.

if your system has only 2 wires, twist the red and white together and see if the furnace continues running...that stat is pretty basic, as long as you have the jumper in the gas position and red wire on RH and white on W....if your system continues to bring up the temp and you have read your manual carefully, I'd have to say there is something wrong with the stat...cycles per hour setting is another thing to adjust on this stat.
