This is a basic question.
I have read a bit on how a heat pump works and one thing that confuses me is:
Since a Heat pump Reverses the flow depending on Heat or Cool Why are the two lines that connect the evaporator sized as if it was operating as an AC only. In the same vane why is only one line insulated?

all it's doing is transfering heat from one place to another, and can only move so much heat. the line set is sized accordingly, we hope.

the line that is insulated provides cooling for the compressor during the A/C season, so you don't want to add any more heat to it after it cools off your house, not to mention the mess condensation can create. this same line provides heat during the heating mode, and you wouln't want any heat escaping before it gets to the air handler, would you?

If it don't fit
force it.
If it breaks
it needed to be replaced anyways.
