How can I change the filter on my Criterion II gas furnace? I have the power and the gas shut of to the unit and have removed the cover plate but can't get to the bottom of the furnace.

Depends on where your filter is located. Are you sure it's inside the furnace? Sometimes filters are installed in the return air duct adjacent to the furnace or in return air filter grilles inside the home. And when you say that you removed the cover plate, do you mean the furnace's blower door panel?
