Hellow Cuzz here. I come to you guys with a problem I'm having trouble finding. I have an electronics background but am a novist at best with hvac.
To start with, I have an XB80 furnace w/ TAYplus103A dual heat kit, and trane heat pump and White-Rodgers thermostat model:1F89-211.

Recently the 24v transformer and my IFC board died at the same time, best I can tell. I replaced the 24v trans and the IFC board and got the system running again. BTW, the new IFC Bd is the White-Rodgers 50A55-843 Bd. It replaced my old IFC 50A55-571.

Here is the problem. The heat pump turns on and runs find when the setpoint goes above the room temperature when in heat mode. If the setpoint is raised 3 degrees above room temp. (call for Aux. heat) the 3amp fuse blows on the 50A55-843 card shutting down the system. If I am in heat mode with the heat pump running and I move the selector switch to EMER. heat position the 3Amp fuse blows.

If the system is not running and I change the selector switch to EMER and raise the setpoint the XB80 furnace fires up with no issues.

The 3amp fuse also blows if the heat pump is running in heat mode and the outside temp drops below around 44 degrees F. TAYSTAT250A is set to change states at that point.

Thanks in advance.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

It sounds like an issue with your fossil fuel kit. Tough to isolate the problem without further testing.

You will probably have to call someone for that one.
