I am servicing a carrier m# 58mvp w/ a potental secondary heat exchanger problem. It is locking out on code 34 and has a 5 micro amp flame reading when I am there watching it run.I also have oooppm co reading in the home. are there any symptoms I should be looking for?

I use a flue gas analyser and measure CO in the flue. In your case I would take a reading inside the vent pipe at the termination. A plugged secondary could cause high CO readings in the flue.

You can pull the blower and inspect the secondary to see if you have holes on the bottom. I use a scope to look down on the top of the secondary to check for holes.

I would expect to see a code 31 pressure switch OPEN if there were holes.

You might have a bad control board. I know there was an older board that had a nuissance code 14 problem.

If that sucker has the infamous black or gray covered board I would suspect a board problem also with a flame signal of 5µA.
You might also check for the good ground and neutral connections.
Is it fired on LP?
My experience with those regarding the failing secondary has been a ton of CO in the flue like 341 mentioned, a strange nauseating smell (you can SMELL that puppy going bad, whew!), the top of the furnace above the burner box getting VERY hot, also sometimes the inside of the exhaust flue will be brownish.
You can pull the blower and see if the secondary has been leaking at the back also.
