black is ussually high speed, and red is low. yellow is most likley medium. you will have to pull that motor out and get one with a higher hp rating. keep in mind that when you put the new motor in you should be running within the nameplate amps over amping or under amping a direct drive motor will burn it up at a rapid rate.

Hi , The manual says it has 4 speed settings , High,MedHigh, Med ,Low . It says the yellow wire is for the " Midhigh " setting . Does that yellow get connected to the Blue wire ? (black and white stay the same ?)
Thanks T.W.

NO! The wires replace each other. When finished you will have two left over wires. Proceed carefully You're close. Tape off or "park" the leftovers. Oh by the way, finish reading that part of the manual. Don't worry, there isn't any fire danger in increasing the blower speed, however emission might increase; conversely, decreasing speed could lead to high limit problem.

So, I assume what you are saying is that black wire goes to black ,white to white and the blue feed wire gets switched to the yellow . (for MidHigh) Then 2 other wires will be left over , Thanks, TW

You really shouldn't be messing with your blower speed. The proper way to pick and choose the blower speed is to do it with tempurature rise. An improper blower speed can do some serious damage to your furnace.
If in doubt call a pro !

The air speed is too slow to get a good temperature rise . when it was installed it was never fine tuned for our house ,just replaced

A slower fan speed will give you a higher delta (temperature rise through the furnace). As your inspector says, you might just need more pre-heated air to the return to make the house comfortable. What are the CFM, BTU of the furnace and square footage of the house? What climate zone are you in?

Is it working better? On my system the speed taps from the motor are connected/located/relocated to connectors on the IC board. My board is marked well and that makes it easier.

I still havent reconnected ,Im still trying to figure out the wiring . In the manual it says yellow is the "Mid High" setting . Does that mean the yellow would go to the blue to get this faster speed ? I was told by an inspector the fan output is too low .

I've been an Armstrong dealer for 15 years. That board is a #40403 and MAY have an M1 terminal rather than park. It was always a bit confusing. However yellow is Med/high. That model never had a med/low until later.
