I see your in Maryland as I am so I know about the weather here.Do you have back up electric heat or a fuel/fossil aux heat source? There is always heat in the air to use for heatpumps at any temp to heat your home so in our local I would only use em. heat at your convience when you want to heat home quickly.Heatpumps are good to say around 38 degrees but with our average temp around 45 degrees most people are good with running heatpump. What temp do you want to maintain? There is alot of other factors that come into play also, square footage, location, townhome, house, year built, insulation, plus our temps usually only drop below that 30 degree temp at night so bundle up and let the heatpump roll!!
