Trying to replace OLD thermostat with Honeywell RTH7000; Only wires connected to current thermostat are: R G W Y Furnace has wire connected to C as well but nothing for W2 or Y2. There are extra wires at both ends but not connected. Suggestions

the old connections suggest 1st heat 1st cool these connections should run equipment on new stat butif new stat has a c connection and no batteries it will need to be connected w2 and y2 should be connected only if u have 2 stage equipment most honeywell tstats have c connection and batteries it would thenuses batteries to maintain program but u can justhook up wire for wire and be running again and remember turn off power to all equipment extra wires can be used for other options leave in safe manner covered in tape [black electrical tape]

Do you have a 2 stage furnace? Any information on your equipment?
