I have a Steel Craft 1/2HP garage door opener. When the door is about to close, it makes a rattling sound coming from the motor. I figure that it cannot be the motor making the noise because it only happens when the door is on its way down. Is there an adjustment I could perform to dampen the noise? Lubrication? Let me know please. It wakes up the whole family when I turn it on. Thanks a lot! I will wait for a reply.

Kital, you came to the right place. I'm a licensed general contrator in California. I am licensed to do all trades on any building up to 3 stories(I do sub out some work because I am not up to date on every trade, I don't have a CFC cert, so I can't do refrigerant) I passed my test in 1976 and have been licensed, bonded and insured ever since.
I would check the door tracks and motor mounting brackets for proper fastening and alignment.

Kital, heating ventilation and air conditioning contractors generally don't know anymore about garage doors than the next guy. I don't understand why you would be asking for help on here with one.

Hey Tinner, Is it OK to ask a question about an IC furnace board or is that a computer?. I find it hard to believe that a mechanical trades tech wouldn't know anything about mechanical equipment. Let me know, I wouldn't want anyone from Ottawa to have to go to the crisis unit over this.

DW if my first response came off sarcastic I am sorry. That is why I responded later to him that most on here wouldn't be able to help him on my second post because it was obvious that he didn't understand. Freak out at someone else, he can ask whatever he wants I was trying to tell him he probably wouldnt be able to find an answer so he didnt hold out on here for nothing. And you say I am rude to consumers what the hell are you basing that off of that I was sarcastic on my first response I thought he had gotten mixed up and gone to the wrong site or something. Nice attitude. I saw his post had sat there for a day and no one responded thats the only reason I answered it so he wouldnt be expecting a response where one probably wouldn't be coming.
