Hey im new my name is Gonzalo Hernandez 19 yrs old. I attend Gwinnett Tech college and am currently in my 2nd semester of heating air and refrig. I've learned a lot but things are getting pretty complex now learning about controls relays contacts and all the electrical components. I've had no experience b4 at all i'm worrying if i'll be able to be a technician. Should i worry or is all i need is some field experience?

What you need is to learn that electrical theory. School won't teach you everything but learning all the basics first will make it easier to be a rookie. Don't think of electricity as complex, keep it simple and be sure to get clarification from your teacher when you don't understand something.

You can't put a price on comfort! Be Safe.

Don't sweat it. Field experience will make you a good tech.

You should use the time in school to learn the electrical side of things though. That will be an important skill.

Don't get overwhelmed. 341 is right. It takes years to develope your skills in the field. Heck, I'm an old goat and still learn new things all the time. Everyone is a rookie at the beginning. Hang in there and be patient. It's a good paying trade and one that is rewarding. 18 years ago I attended tech school just like you and now I run my own sucessful HVAC business. But there was a time I couldn't identify a pressure switch from a light switch. Stick with it and you'll be fine. When you graduate, try to find employment with a good reputable company. A good company will provide OJT and probably have you run calls with an experienced tech for awhile.

Good luck Gonzalo.
