I have a 20 year old GE gas furnance which will run and heat however I have to turn the thermostat all the way down the back up past the "click" to get it to fire and heat. Even to turn it up to 80 on the thermostat the temp in the house will only go to 65. Any suggestions?

I charge $50 for a service call, which includes up to the first hour.

sounds like the thermostat is not calling for heat when it should. I would replace it. Also, how do you know its only heating to 65? Is this a reading from the (bad?) thermostat?
thanks

When you turn the tstat down and then back up you are possibly resetting your controls in the furnace which may be in lockout mode for a dozen different reasons. I have never seen a GE furnace up here but basically the problem could be a lot of things and probably have nothing to do with the thermostat.
