I hooked up a Honeywell RTH230 programmable thermostat to a oil furnace with the wires matching the red, green and white wires for the heat. Ever since hooking this up the furnace will not shut off unless the heat/cooling on off switch is moved to off. could the wires be color coded wrong and reversed or is the thermostat broken?

Did you remove power to your furnace before replacing the stat?
Does the gas also run, or is it only the fan?
Did your old stat use a C (common)?
