I recently had a Carrier high efficiency furnace (Model 58MXB) installed including a condensate pump to remove the condensate. The installer did not connect the safety switch leads from the pump to the circuit board on the furnace. This feature would shut the furnace down if the pump fails to prevent overflowing. I was told that he never connects them. Please advise how the two leads should be connected on the circuit board. I presume the Model 58MXB furnace supports this type of application. Thanks.

Ernie

i never hook up the safty switch on con pumps either.i guess it depends on where u live. but whats worst a bit of water on the floor or your water lines bursting cuz u left for a few days and your furnace shut down because of con pump shutting it down and the outside temp got really cold, is it possible. it is up north.depends on application also attic/ basement.

We interrupt the common to shut off the a/c but not the heat on high efficiency furnaces for the same reason...we have customers who are "snow bunny's" and go away for a couple months every winter. Yes it will make a mess, but not like broken water lines.

Interrupt R between the stat and furnace with your float switch.
