My furnace started acting up a couple of weeks ago. It seemed like in the morning it would not start. Overriding the programmable thermostat did not make a difference. I reset the T/S to leave it at a constant set point. Worked al day when we woke up, I gcould not get it to start. I have checked the fresh air intake screens. No blocks. I tried running it with the PVC off. same result. I will add that the blower runs automatically when I reset the main switch. After about 5 minutes, the blower relay drops the motor out.
I followed the instructions to relight the Pilot. No go.

I also cleaned a sensor located below the burner unit. It was about 3/4 inches round about 1/2 inch thick with a silver silver cap. it has two wires to it. It did not look dirty. I measured a dead short across it.

It is a model 28RCc248000.

Any thoughts of where to go next?

If you have the 'ability' to 'respond' then you have the responsibility to do so.

Houston, we have a problem...

No it didn't spark. I ended up calling in a service tech. He found Flow switch was bad. We also noticed crack on the heat exchanger.

When he jumped the switch the unit started. Problem is the burner is erratic. It keeps shutting off and restarting. We agreed after 19 years it is time to put this one out to pasture.

Thanks for the help...

-Thanks!

Yer right! I wrote down the number on the AC Coil Cabinet.

The model is:

58SX100-CC-1 series 170

I have the cover off of the control Board but do not see any LEDs. THe unit is almost 20 years old. Installed in 1989.

I did one other thing since I last posted. I noticed some carbon deposits in the burner tubes that had grown on a few os the screws. I knocked them off and vacuumed it out. Still DITWA though.

-Thanks!

You should have a blinking diagnostic light to help determine the problem.

You might double check that model number, it should start with 58.
