I have a goodman ac/heat unit will not light pilot. It has a honeywell sv9501 valve. Voltage to element is at 24 volts. Seems like valve is not opening. My tank is at 20% and reads a little over 100 psi. Is this not enough pressure? Fan comes on but pilot never lights. I installed a new ignitor assembly. Still nothing. Please help. It is supposed to get back to colder temperatures soon.

Did you check for voltage at the valve? You should have 24 volts on the ignition board at pv and common

i tried just wasnt sure what wire was what. i just assumed because the ignitor was getting 24 volts. thats what i get for assuming i guess. i looked around for wiring schematic but none seem to match what i have. do you know by color instead of by positions on the connector? Thats the only way ive been able to find it and the positions on the connector don't seem to match what ive got. thanks again for the help.

If you can get 24 volts at any wire it should be getting power, one will be for main valve, pilot valve, and common, the main valce won't have power until pilot is proven by flame sensor. Try pushing in the red button on the roll out and chekc all the safetys for power

ther is a small orfis going to the pilot you need to take it apart and make sure it is clear, I find that a lot on propane. they make one for natural gas and one for propane you probally need to make shur you even have the right one in

replaced pilot burner when i replaced the ignitor just to make sure it was the right orifice. it had a lot of soot built up around it. is there something in the valve itself that might be clogged? thanks for the response.

there could be but looking at the pilot right below it is a nut, I think 7/16 take that off pull the pilot tube off and you will find the pilot orfice. While you have it apart you can test the valve by letting it cycle while apart and hold your thumb over the tube to see if the gas is coming out just make sure you have quick access to you off switch. If you feel safe doing it. I do it all the time as a professional (work at your own risk)

I replaced the pilot orifice when I replaced the ignitor it came with a new one. But I will remove tube and see if gas is flowing. Thanks for the idea.
