Hopefully someone here can help. I'm not sure where to start. I very recently purchased a home and am having some problems with the heat. I had the house inspected and it seemed like the heat and a/c checked out OK. The house was a previous rental and not well cared for. The renter before I moved in had several large dogs, and on top of that, they refinished the wood floors before I bought it and didn't bother to cover up the intakes for the air system. Needless to say, before I moved in, I sucked up loads of dust and dog hair from the unit and replaced the filter.
So here's the thing, My heater doesn't warm my house at all. No warm air can be felt coming from the vents. The unit is a gas Bryant unit about 13 years old. It turns on and fires up the burners for a few minutes then turns off and does the same thing over and over again. It sounds like the blower turns on, but I can feel no air coming out of the ducts. Originally, it was showing a code 33, then it switched to a code 13. These have to do with a flame or roll out switch? I had a technician come out for a "maintenance check-up" and he poked and prodded for a while and said he thought it was a gas valve. But, he seemed really green and kept calling someone else for input. After what I've been reading, that just doesn't sound right. Now the LED doesn't flash, it just stays solid, but still the same problem. The flame looks good. The vent stack for the furnace gets warm to the touch after a few minutes, so I know it's producing some heat. Any ideas? If you need more info, let me know. I'm kinda green to all this being a first time home-owner. Thanks in advance.

Thanks the Duke. I found the A/C coil and after some hard work, was able to pull it out enough to see that it was completely clogged. I'm so mad that the hvac guy didn't even check this out. It was a solid mass of dog hair and sawdust. I assume that it was getting so hot inside the furnace because the air had no where to go, that the furnace was shutting itself down. Seems to be working much better now. I scraped off what i could and vacuumed it with a shop vac with a bristle attachment. It could definitely be cleaner. Could I completely remove the unit myself and give it a thorough cleaning? I didn't know how to disconnect the copper tubes. I can't believe I was about to buy a 400 dollar gas valve 2 days ago. Grrr...and yay all at the same time.

You can't disconnect the pipes, it's not like plumbing, you must use your imagination and anything else to get it clean but like I said It's quite difficult.

Yes, I have checked and replaced the filter. What was I supposed to do with the diagram? I have that diagram of the codes on the furnace. I know what they mean. But, like i said, it doesn't flash a code anymore. Am I supposed to run the diagnostic like it says at the bottom? What does it mean by "short"? Do I just jumper the test to the com24? Then if it throws a code, that's my problem?

Possibly a dirty/blocked a/c coil. Can you turn fan on at stat and feel air blowing out of seams right at top of furnace? Do you have a zone system? This is an a/c coil(top side view) This is a dirty coil. To check coil you must look at bottom side(top side will always look clean). This is normally quite difficult to get to.

This is a gas furnace. The A/C unit is completely separate. I don't think I've seen anything like those coils on my furnace. The A/C blows just fine.

OK, i apologize. yes, they share ducting. I'm still figuring out how this thing works. haha. I do have coils like that. I'm trying to get to the underside to see how dirty they are. it's a pain. The copper tubing and vent stack are in the way.

So you're saying that your furnace and a/c are separate? Wow there must be a ton of ducts in your house. So then if you shut furnace off your a/c will run?
