Hi,
Your new one is wrong one for your system. Move upto higher model
to meet the requirement. Houston the good guy here will give you a GOOD advice. Wait until he shows up.

First you need a heat pump thermostat, for 2 stage for heat, 1 stage cool.. If you want a head start you should get this while you're waiting. Houston would recommend a Honeywell Visionpro and I agree but any 24 volt, 2 heat-1 cool heat pump stat will do. Vision pro:

In my opinion, The Honeywell Visionpro TH8321 and TH8320 are the best stats available today. I have one on my house and it's great. A bit pricey though..

The Honeywell RTH3100C is a non programmable stat compatible with your system.

The Honeywell RTH7400 and RTH7500 (with autochangeover) are programmable stats compatible with your system.
Option 170 = 7 (multistage heatpump)
option 190 = 0 (O/B terminal is O)
option 240 = 9

Your old B is C (common).
Tape off the wire that went to T (usually brown but it appears that yours is black).
