contactor will not kick in,,a slight tap with close it,,,it runs good for about 5-7 days, then it does it again,,,have replace the contactor 3 months ago

Sounds like the contactor may be faulty. If it is a heat pump system, the circuit board may intermittenly be sending voltage. If you apply 24 volts to the contactor is should always pull in and stay in until voltage is no longer present.

Check the voltage to the coil of it. Should be 24v or higher. If okay then the contactor may be faulty. They are cheaply made these days, just like a lot of other things. Check for bugs which may have crawled into it. Earwigs?
