just replaced old weathertron xe 1200 baystat thermostat with honeywell rth7500 universal programmable thermostat. the "t" wire from the old thermostat has no place to go in new thermostat. is this correct? also it kind of bugs me to have something that was connected but now is not. is this acceptable? what is the "t" wire for? will it affect the performance of my system? thanks

Your old stat was using a bimetal spring to control temperature. The outdoor thermister helped that spring to more accurately heat your home.
Your new stat has a processor and does not require a thermistor to prevent this droop in temperature.
"Tip of the Day" Remember to remove power first.
