DIYer . I have 20vac coming out of secondary(24vac) side of transformer on White-Rodgers 50A50 controller. Is this acceptable for running the system? Controls furnace and AC unit. Not getting power to thermostat. Are the 50A50 controllers prone to failure? Any info is greatly appreciated.

Are you checking for 24 volt to ground or 24 volt to common?

Replaced blown 5A fuse from transformer to TH terminal and have no operation. Had a helper turn thermostat to cool and "spark and smoke" came from transformer/controller area. No noticeable signs of burning on transformer or on controller board(removed covers on both).
