I have a forced air, single stage gas heating and two stage air conditioning system controlled by an ICM Controls SC3801 thermostat. System runs fine on heat. However, every few months, the clock time will randomly set to a new time. And, when, and only when, I run the A/C the room temperature reading rises by 2-3 degrees on the thermostat and seems to struggle to drop as the house is cooled. If I then shut the system down the room temperature reading will drop by about 2-3 degrees over the subsequent 5 minutes or so. The entire a/c system and thermostat is new last spring and the transformer was replaced last Fall. Both heat and a/c appear to otherwise run perfectly.
Is this a faulty thermostat?

Marginal transformer? Loose connection some where between 'stat and toe control board?
