The compressor failed on our A/C (11 years old). We currently have two zones (1st and 2nd floors), gas furnace, and A/C.
It seems that adding a Heat Pump to the A/C unit makes a lot of sense. The HP would work until 30 degrees outside, then switch over to gas furnace. The cost savings seem to be substantial.
So, we have interviewed 3 contractors. 2 proposed the system above (both Lennox), while the 3rd said that our Zone Board may not be set-up properly for the Gas-HP-A/C with 2 zones.
Does this make any sense? If so, it really irks me that the other 2 vendors didn't mention the issue.
Thanks.
