Anyone,

I have a Rheem heat pump (inside unit), the outside unit I cant recall at the moment.

Anyways the Thermostat is a York and the wires attached to the terminals are:

Terminal - wire color
R - red
W - white
G - green
X - brownish black
Y - yellow
O - orange
B - blue

so theres 7 wires...ALL hooked up as above.

What is the X wire?
What is the blue wire?
What is the orange wire?

I am trying to install a new Thermostat Rite Temp 6030 and am thinking it should be:

Old TStat (wire color) - new Tstat

R (red) - Rh (tstat says jumper is set to Rc and Rh)
W (white) - W
G (green) - G
X (brownish black ) - C
Y (yellow) - Y
O (orange) - O
B (blue) - not connected

I think I may have to connect blue to B and then set W (old) to W2 (new) for aux heat, and then jumper W(new) to Y(new) to get the heat pump to do the normal heat operation.

Beleive it said T782R.

I got to looking inside the air handler and figured out most of the wiring.

The Rheem model is a RBEH-17J14MH** (cant recall the last 2 numbers) but one is for coil type and other is for replacement filter)

at the thermostat, B (blue) is common,
X(brownish-black) is emergency heat.
O (orange) is the heat pump change over powered in cool mode.

One of my concerns is the W(white wire) is powered at 24v when the thermostat on the 2nd mercury bulb turn it on. Im thinking its aux heat, and inside the air handler they have dont have it connected to anything. The air handler has a white wire with blue stripe that is also not attached to any of the thermostat wires.

I hooked it up and it powered 24 volts to the air handler and there was a Watt Restrictor, and on one side was the 24v and the other had nothing (0.135v), so I dont understand why the second stage is not kicking on.

I did unhook the wire right away, because I didnt see any effect, and didnt want it remained hooked up as to damage any components.

Thanks!

Seems like your guessing. If you get common wrong you will pop a fuse or damage your transformer.
You don't seem sure of your old stat number either.
