Hi,

Let me begin by saying great site! I've been looking for just the thing.

I was hoping to find the answer to the following question.

I'm new to the AC world so I'm not quite sure if I've stated this correctly....but...what is the proper amount of time between cycles that one should see in an AC unit?

Perhaps an example would make the question a bit easier to understand.

Please keep in mind, I'm stating the example with the assumption that the scenario takes place on an average summers day. I'm not talking about an extremely hot humid day. But lets say 28 to 32 °C.

Assume the home is at 23°C and the desired temperature is 21°C. My A/C will run continuously to reach the 21°C mark for about an hour. Once the A/C achieves the desired temperature it shuts off. 10 minutes later it turns back on, runs for 10 minutes or so, and then shuts off. Then about 10 minutes later it turns back on again....and so on and so forth....

Is this normal?

I know that on a really hot day, the unit could run continuously for hours. Add a house full of guests, and the machine will run non-stop.

But the assumption here is an average summers day, and just 2 or 3 of us in the home.

Thanks in advance for the response!
