How much should I pay for a 40-5-440 Trane capacitor installed by a service tech. during normal business hours? I realize there is a service/dia charge. I'm interested in the RETAIL part cost. If possible please provide where I could purchase the part at your stated cost.
Thank you for asisiting me with this.

The trouble with buying parts is unless you know for sure the trouble you end up with a lot of parts i do agree the price sounded high we charge $20. for the capacitor and $86.for the service call up to an hour but our wages in our area are lower to most likly i would in a nice way like the hvac co. know next time you are calling his competitor we have lowered a few prices to keep busy in a slow economy

I paid $162 installed, plus $59 to come to my house. I thought this was way out of line.
Maybe parts cost more in Fort Wayne, IN? I doubt it!
Thank you again for your time,

$90 to come to your home and $87 for an installed dual cap.
You can get one cheap on ebay.
Caps will hold a charge for a few minutes after removing power. Be careful.
"Tip of the Day" Remember to remove power first.
