Going from a standard eff XB-13 to a high eff XR-13 or XR-14 Trane adds about $1000 to price... Someone told me just get the the cheaper XB unit cause its the same thing...just w/o compressor noise insulation.( noise isnt an issue for my location).
Also they said ..pay no attention to any SEER #'S greater than 13 or HSPF greater than 7.7 cause unless u have a custom ductwork and variable speed furnace Im throwing money away.
The compressor on the XR series does have a 10 year warranty versus a 5 year for the XB. Also I thought if in the future I need to replace my furnace and go with a dual speed I may then get addl bebefits from the better unit.
any thoughts?

You wont see a big difference between a 13 and 14 seer system, but higher seer is better, would defininetly go with the VS blower and better warranty.
