I'm instaling five fijitsu ductless splits. I've been told to install a liquid line drier, but I don't think you are suposed to because the "liquid" line is actually part of the metering device. Dose anyone know the answer to this problem? This is a 410 a system.

No, you do not want to install a liquid-liner drier. By the way, I'm curious as to who told you to do that?

Do not put in a drier! I'm a factory trained dealer and was told not to at factory training session.

The liquid line is like a capillary tube in a refrigerator and is the metering device. They are critically charged (measured in ounces) so adding a drier would change the charge. I would check with Fijitsu to see what they want. Very important to pull the proper 500 micron vacuum and follow their procedures. Look inside the condensor to see if it has a built in one that looks like a copper bulb.

The part where your getting confused is that there is no liquid line from the outdoor unit to the indoor unit because your metering device is inside your condenser not at your indoor evaporator like conventional split systems. Both of those insulated lines are part of the low side of the system. that is why there is only one pressure port on these units so technicians dont hook up to the unit and say the pressures are the same on both gauges. Oh my compressor must be fried lol hahaha. So you need not put in a liquid line filter drier since there is not liquid line accessible to you unless you cut one in on the inside of the condenser but there is probably one already installed for you internally. Thanks hopefully this solved your question and never try and call the tech support for any of these chinese units because just like you need chinamen hands to work on them youll also need to speak chinese to figure one out. lol haha
When in doubt pull it out!!
