Folks,
I have a 1993 Armstrong Ultra III 80 forced hot air system.
On top of this is what I believe is a separate large square heat exchanger chamber.
there are two lines (one 1/4 or 1/8 copper thin and one 1/2 or 3/4 copper thick) coming into the chamber from the outside of the house. The thick line is heavily frosted as it connects into the chamber (about 1 inch of frost growth.
THE FAN inside my unit refuses to blow. Condensation and drip has saturated most of the circuit board area.
Can anyone tell me whats wrong?
Why has th fan failed? The unit has since been dried out with dehumidifier and when I flip HVAC power switch on it tries to go but the fan refuses to engage and start to blow.
Is there a refrigerant leak? Will my house burn down? It has been like this for a few days sitting tack'd and shorted.
What will this cost?
Thanks for any help. I am here to answer questions.
Thank You
Best regards Ken in Nashua

You are looking at the refrigerant line set. The reason it frost over is probably because the blower isn't running. Set the the fan switch to (ON) at the t-stat; see if the blower comes on, and if the suction line still freezes up. If it does call a Service tech. Easy fix.
