I'm in the process of interviewing contractors to finish my basement and while looking at the HVAC system, I found this:

I decided to check other duct work that comes off the main trunk line and several of the branches that go to vents are not taped or have gaps. This is on a 3-year old home that we had built. I never would have thought to get on a ladder and look at the duct work coming out at the top part of the main HVAC trunk line. Pretty messed up.
