I have a Goodman heat pump (model CPLJ33-1A) and a new Honeywell TH8320 thermostat. Where do I connect the orange, black and brown thermostat wires? Thanks

Colors codes vary greatly.

What were these wires connected to on the old stat?

If you forgot to write this down before removal..
What are they connected to at your fancoil?

If you guess, you risk damage to your equipment.

The old thermostat used O,Y,W,G,C R, but there was a small dual fuel relay circuit board attached to the air duct by the furnace. One of the soldered relay cubes failed. The new themostat eliminates the need for the relay cubes.
Coming into the old relay circuit board were wires for the furnace (using R,W,G,C,Y) and the heat pump using OD STAT-Orange, O-brown, Y-Yellow, W-White, R-Red, and C-blue, plus a black wire connected to an un-named screw next to the OD STAT.
Since I am now bypassing the circuit relay board, I have connected all the R,W,C,Y wires together near the furnace, plus the G wire from the furnace to the thermostat, and the O wire from the heat pump to the thermostat. That leaves an orange and a black wire coming from the heat pump that were going to the relay cube, but now need to tie directly into the new thermostat with built in relays.
The thermostat has Y2,L,E,AUX,RC,R,O/B,Y,G,C plus an S1,S2 which connect to an outdoor thermometer.
So, where do I connect the black and orange wires that were going from the heat pump to the OD STAT and un-named relay circuit board?
Thanks Bonnie

Your new stat will support your dual fuel setup when used with a C789U1006 outdoor sensor.

It is odd that orange is not used for O. I would double check that at your outdoor unit. The 2 wires connected to the outdoor thermister can be used for your S1 and S2 terminals but you must use the Honeywell sensor outside to avoid damaging equipment and your new stat.

Pictures can be posted on this site using www.photobucket.com
Dual fuel setups will alarm many service techs. If you want to convert this yourself, I suggest posting pictures of the control wiring outside, your abandoned dual fuel kit and the furnace.

Your last picture is part of the old dual fuel kit.
It will need to be removed.

Wow, I expected this to go into many more posts. You are quite impressive.

Is your name really Bonnie? I have seen so many tech shy away from heatpumps and you can replace a dual fuel setup ;)

option 170 = 7
190 = 0
set option 210 to 0
240 = 5
340 = 2
350 = 30 or 35
