just installed a new 3 ton a/c system in a 1,700 sq ft house but it wont cool it?? The temp split is 18 to 20 deg. dif. Cleaned all the returns and filters, blower is on the high speed for cooling, the system is charged per manufators specs. Air temp out of the vents is avg. 60 degr. but will not bring the house below 75 to 80 pending outside temp.Windows are new in the last 10 years, roof is about 7 years old with added vents to it. Running out of ideas help!!!

I'm curious, but in your post you said, and I quote, "...just installed a 3 ton a/c system in a 1,700 sq ft house..." I quess my first question would be, who installed the system? Was it a contractor, or did you actually install the system? Also, did you, by any chance, do an add-on to your home before replacing the existing system? One more thing, when you say 1,700 sq ft, are you including a basement, and is it finished?

With out do any calculation of your situation, three ton is on boarder line for 1200 sq. feet, as some guys already told you
you need at least 4 ton. Good luck!

You need at least a 3 1/2 - 4 ton Nothing more nothing less.
If the work aint tight it aint right!

Unit is undersized did hvac company do a load calc.That size home would need at least a 5 ton system.

1 ton of refrigeration per 400sq ft of living space. The 3 ton will never cool your house.
