I have run into a problem with my rheem ruud hot water tank model #pvw180. When i plug it in, the ventor motor starts and runs continuosly, the hot surface ignitor glows, but the gas valve does not click open and ignite, after about 1 minute the h.s.i. shuts off and the ventor motors still continues to run....anybody have any ideas to help????

Is the gas valve getting 24 volts to try and open while the HSI is glowing? If not, trace it back to the circuit board or relay or pressure switch where the wires attach to from the gas valve. Check the exhaust vent for leaves/blockage.
