Hello from muggy Louisiana... have a quick question for you. My current heat pump is 16 years and and just 2 days ago went out. I don't think it's a good idea to put any money in a unit that old so I'm shopping for a new system. The problem is every dealer out there trashes the competition and for a layman like myself, I don't know what to believe. I have actually narrowed my choices to 2 brands, one is a Lennox heat pump, the other is called "air ease", a division of lennox. Here's the deal, both are close to the same amount as far as the sales price ( yes, the name brand Lennox is close to the air ease price, which I thought was unusual ) and about the only difference I see is the warranty. Lennox is 10 yrs on compressor, 5 on parts 1 on labor..., the air ease is 10 years across the board, ( impressive yes? ) both used 2 stage copeland scrolled compressors. I'm not one that has to have the name brand unit, but I would have at least like to have heard of the other brand, which in this case I had never heard of "airease". The dealers trashing it say it is a builders "track" home installation unit, but I find that hard to believe on a unit that is 16 to 18 seer with a copeland compressor and has the warranty it has. Can you advise is the airease as "good" as the others or am I being mislead. I appreciate your help. thanks Roland

you should get good service out of either unit as long as the company installs properly , just ask lots of questions about the installation , the one thats patient enough to answer them and has a proven track record for warranty problems is the one i would choose , good luck
