I have a condenser on my property that has pressure readings of 100 Low, and 225 High. Compressor makes a high pitched whining sound when running. Before checking pressures, I found system iced up; including three quarters of the compressor. Could the compressor have been damaged internally due to the fact that the compressor was running for an unknown amount of time while iced up?

Sounds like the valves are in bypass. is the filter clean or the indoor and outdoor coils clean. if the rest of the system checks out the valves are bad, there could be a number of things that might cause funky readings like this pressure should be 225 to 250 high and 60 to 75 low depending on temperatures unit condition etc. it will take more than your description to diagnose this. and I have seen compressors encased in ice as much as 12 inches deep that survived

By the pressures and whining sound is possible a bad compressor what you will check is, the amp drawings to low, end if you know how to pump down a system this is done by closing discharge line king valve end let the compressor pull all refrigerant to low can get end cut power to the unit and see if holds pressures if don't hold it is possible the compressor has weak valves
any help counts
