Wish I had found this site last year. Have a York Diamond 90 & can't remember when I had it installed but do know that I've had trouble with it all along. One thing that really bothers me is the filter. It was about 20 when I put the furnace in - this year it is over 50. Couple that with the 100 fee for checking it every year (last year cost an additional 535 for a part) and the fact that I have the same problems with it blowing cold air (usually in late Feb early Mar). I was told that it was from a dirty filter and just run it without a filter because there are not filters available in the Spring??????? Last year I just shut it off and bundled up till it warmed up. First - how do I find a furnace person to come in for less than 100? Second, how can I get a cheaper filter so I can order 2?

Well, first of all, it sounds like your biggest problem is that you are getting very poor service for your money. You need to find a technician that actually knows what he is doing! You probably are not going to find that for under $100. You don't need a cheaper technician, if anything you need a more expensive one that will give you value for your money, such as figuring out what is really wrong with your system!
I would really like to know what kind of filter they are putting into your furnace that is worth $50! Even the highest quality High Efficiency filters cost a fraction of that. Keep in mind that the reason you should have a pro check your furnace is to ensure it is working properly, not just to change the filter. Changing the filter is just a courtesy. There is no reason you can't do it yourself!
Perhaps if you post what city you live in, somebody here could recommend a company that will provide you with the service you need!
It's only a shock if your not expecting it!
