I have a 6 year old Lennox 4 ton air conditioner. The fan stopped running. It has two capacitors. I replaced the start cap because it was leaking fluid when I turned it upside down to look at the numbers. Still doesn't start. I gave the fan a nudge (compressor was running) and it runs slowly, probably 1/3 speed. Shut the system off and checked the fan, it was very hot. Only was running about 2 minutes. Should I replace the fan or run cap or both.
Is there a way to check the fan before replacing it?

Allow the motor to cool to ambiant temp, then start the unit and see what happens. A good service tech will replace the capacitors on a motor change out, to avoid a repeat failure. Replace the run capacitor. If the motor is bad then you are one step ahead in the motor R&R.
