I am having trouble with my heat pump freezing up on cold mornings the entire unit is covered in ice and the fan on the unit will not run. some times even after it thaws out the fan will not turn until you give it a good jar then it starts working again. how do i stop this from happening

If the fan turns freely try replacing the capacitor - turn the power off to the unit for at least 5 minutes before touching the capacitor

Get the fan motor replaced, it has a dead spot
