Buying an home and the past owner took the theromstat (cut it off the wall) wires not marked. Plan to install a hunter 44860 on a Rheem RRKA unit. How do I determine what wires to mark correctly for connections. 4 wires are sticking out the hole R-Y-G-W.

Usual configuration:
R to 24vac
Y to Cooling
G to Fan
W is either going to be Heating or 24vac Common
If this is a A/C only, and the the house is heated from an other source then hook up white wire to common or "C" If the unit heats the house, then hook up wire to W1
If you terminate the white wire to W1, the t-stat will need to be powered by batteries.

R will go on RC/R with a jumper to RH
Y wil go on Y1/Y2
G wil go on G (duh :))
W wil go on W1/W2
