I have an Armstrong heat pump with electric aux. heat and a White-Rodgers prog.ts. The system is about 10 years old and generally operates as it should. I replaced the defrost board a couple of years ago. I notice quite often that when the pump is in a heat cycle and heating is achieved, the compressor seems to stay on too long, maybe after the valve has reversed, and blow cold air thru the house. Any Ideas?

Gary

sounds like a defrost cycle with no heat strips wired to w2 at furnace does the defrost board have a w2 wire cominf from it outside and is that wire if hooked up also attached to the w2 circuit wires at the furnace ?

Power is using mind over matter

I'll double check, but I think the defrost cycle brings on aux. heat if it's calling for it. This is at the end of the regular heat cycle. When the temp. is reached, it stops calling for heat and the compressor (fan and all) keeps running for a few minutes and blows cold air. The inside fan, of course, then runs for a minute after the compressor shuts down as it should. I thought it might be a common problem that there was a quick fix or adjustment for. Thanks!
