Every time the outdoor unit on my heat pump runs a defrost cycle, the compressor refuses to come back on in heat mode. If the system is turned off and back on, the compressor will reactivate within a couple of minutes and everything is fine until the next defrost cycle. It's a 1993 vintage Coleman Evcon unit with oil heat backup. Other than this problem the system is great and very efficient but numerous visits by techs haven't been able to solve the problem, partly I assume because it's hard to catch it in the act. Any suggestions appreciated.
