My 9 year old Tempstar 2-1/2 ton heat pump systems inside unit coil has quite a bit of corrosion on the bottom side from condensation. The system works as it should and outside unit appears to be in great condition. But this has to be slowing down my air flow and costing me $$$. Can it be replaced without replacing the whole system?

If air is getting around the coil or learing out of the cabniet, then yes, the unit is losing effeciency. The cost of changing out the coil vs. replacing the unit is usually cheaper. But you must consider the age of the equipment and cost of upkeep. If you choose to replace the AHU, replace the condensing unit as well. If you dont, you will probably be dissattified with the outcome. I have patched plenty of units with sheet metal, screws, and a few cans of Pan Patch.
