Thank-You for taking the time to advise this FURNACE NEOPHYTE.Do I go Intermediate or High Efficiency? In British Columbia the gas company is offering a $300 rebate on our gas bill if we do an "Energy Star" upgrade. They will give an additional $150 rebate if the "energy star" furnace has a "high efficiency, variable speed, fan motor. I don't believe an intermediate furnace would Qualify. They need a 90% efficiency to Qualify. Now look at the "incentive" choices I must consider. Some manufacturers offer saving's bonuses that- "Hang on to your Hat or get a coffee"--- include: a 10 year parts warranty and free thermostat, ie: Carrier-$500 saving,York -$600, Lennox-$600, Bryant-$500, Trane-$350-$560, and American Standard--$435-$530 saving. OTHERS,offer $$ off installation cost, like Keeprite-$150, Kenmore-$150, Luxaire-$150, and Temptstar-$150 saving. To complicate the decision even more, IBC saves $350 by giving a variable speed pump at no charge.Super Hot gives 2 yr parts and labour and 15 yr heat exchanger extended warranty valued at$200. Are you still with me? Weil- Mclaine {canada} offers $150 off the GV Boiler OR $150 and 5yr parts and labour. Not to be left out, Armstrong Air gives a free thermostat and a free electrostatic filter saving $200. All savings are posted by each Supplier .I have NO idea at this point on the difference in base prices. Where do I start???

Ouch Thats a lot of savings or maybe not!
the bottom line is this
If your going to install yourself, get the highest efficiency furnace available and save on the gas company offerings..NOTE: Trane makes american standard..Carrier makes Bryant, Day and Night, and Payne..Coleman evcon makes York...
Better to buy a less advertised brand made by a reliable manufacturer.
If you are contracting the install..Usa a local business and get bids from as many as possible..compare apples to apples..
Good luck
