The wires to my old thermostat were cut exactly to length, and a few of them will not reach the terminal blocks on the new thermostat base. I can't seem to budge the cable at all. Is soldering extra wire to make them reach the new terminal blocks OK? What is the best thing to do in this situation.

Tom

Wire nuts are easier than soldering and you don't risk melting the wire insulation causing a short and a never ending heat cycle

Use a heat sink to prevent melting

Wire nuts can fall off!
